Vintage Ceramic Shaving Scuttle
Made in England by Wade
$25.00
Vintage shaving scuttle by Wade of England. Pristine condition. Est 1950/60 era.
The shave soap rests in the top tray with holes to drain into the bottom. The shaving brush would initially be inserted into the large spout to soak and gather hot water and also used for water added to the lather during the shave. Lather is not built in or on the scuttle but is built on the face by "face lathering".
Fill the scuttle with hot water and insert the shaving brush to soak (note the brush opening is 1.5 inches). Wet the face with the loaded brush and then swirl the brush on the soap to pick up soap onto the bristles. Then build lather directly on the face by swirling the brush on the beard and adding either more hot water or soap from the scuttle.
